1.1 About the Foxtel app
The Foxtel app allows customers to stream live TV and On Demand content from their Foxtel subscription on compatible Smart TVs.
Customers with a compatible device and either a Foxtel Now subscription or a Foxtel TV subscription and Multiscreen will be able to use the Foxtel app.
For more information, see Using the Foxtel app.
Features
The Foxtel app includes the following features:
- watch Foxtel on a big screen without needing to install an STB (Set Top Box) Multiroom
- watch live TV, including live sports (on channels they are subscribed to)
- stream On Demand content
- register up to 5 devices and watch on 2 at the same time
- Closed Captions
- personalised home screen (the home screen will only recommend content from packs the customer is subscribed to)
- HD (High Definition) content over WiFi
- 'still there' message (after 3 hours of watching On Demand content, the Foxtel app will ask if you're still there and prompt you to select 'Yes' to continue watching.)
- add shows and movies to a Watch List
- parental controls
Data usage
The Foxtel app uses a customer's internet connection, which means data charges may apply from the customer's ISP (Internet Service Provider).
The Foxtel app will automatically provide content in the highest quality available, based on the customer's internet connection. On mobile networks, the Foxtel app will provide content at a lower quality to minimise data usage. HD content is only available on WiFi networks.
The minimum internet speed required to stream On Demand content or watch live TV is:
- 3 Mbps (megabits per second) for SD content
- 7 Mbps for HD content.
1.2 Difference between the Foxtel app and Foxtel Go
The Foxtel app is available directly on compatible Smart TVs while Foxtel Go is available on portable devices (such as mobiles, tablets and laptops) and can be cast to a big screen. Note: Foxtel TV customers will need to subscribe to Multiscreen to cast via Foxtel Go (for more information, see Overview - Multirooms).
For more information on Foxtel GO, see Overview - Foxtel Go.
1.3 Channels available on the Foxtel app
The channels available to a customer are based on their Foxtel TV or Foxtel Now subscription.
See Compare channels on Foxtel TV and Foxtel apps for a breakdown of all available live and On Demand channels on the Foxtel app. Note: Not all channels are available on the Foxtel app and some channels are only available as live channels.

2. Using the Foxtel app
2.1 Accessing the Foxtel app
If the customer has a Foxtel TV subscription with Multiscreen, they can log in to the Foxtel app using their Foxtel ID (which is also used to access My Account; for more information, see Overview - My Account).
If the customer has a Foxtel Now subscription, they can log in to the Foxtel app using their Foxtel Now username and password.
New Foxtel TV customers
New Foxtel TV customers can sign up for a Foxtel ID and start using the Foxtel app within 15 minutes of their order being raised and will have access for up to 120 days before their connection date.
Cancelled orders
If the customer's order is cancelled, they will lose access to the Foxtel app as their Foxtel ID will become inactive.
Suspended customers
Customers on voluntary or non-pay suspension cannot access the Foxtel app. Customers who log into the Foxtel app while suspended will see the AF40155 (subscription is expired) error.
2.2 PIN and parental controls
Customers can set up a PIN (Personal Identification Number) on the Foxtel app, which gives them access to parental controls. Parental controls allow customers to restrict content by classification (this applies to live channels and On Demand content).
PIN
When a customer accesses the parental control menu in the Foxtel app for the first time, they'll be asked to enter a new PIN and then confirm it. If a customer forgets their PIN, they can reset it using the Foxtel app.
Reset a PIN in the Foxtel app
Advise the customer to:
- Select Settings in the Foxtel app.
- Select Parental Controls.
- In the ENTER YOUR PIN pop-up window, select Forgot your PIN? The customer will receive an email with a new PIN and can use this PIN normally or change it to a preferred PN.
End of procedure.
Change a PIN in the Foxtel app
Advise the customer to:
- Select Settings in the Foxtel app.
- Select Parental Controls.
- In the ENTER YOUR PIN pop-up window, enter your PIN.
- Select Change PIN.
- Enter your preferred PIN.
- Re-enter your preferred PIN.
End of procedure.
Parental controls
Customers can use the parental controls on the Foxtel app to restrict content by classification. Any live channels or On Demand content that is restricted will require the customer's PIN to be entered before it can be watched. When a classification is restricted, all higher classifications are automatically restricted as well. Note: These settings are not affected by changes made on a customer's STB (Set Top Box) (for Foxtel TV customers only).
Change parental controls in the Foxtel app
Advise the customer to:
- Select Settings in the Foxtel app.
- Select Parental Controls.
- In the ENTER YOUR PIN pop-up window, enter your PIN.
- Select the classification you want to restrict (any higher classifications are automatically restricted).
End of procedure.
