4. Issues with the Voice feature
If the customer advises the Voice feature is not working or it does not provide them with any results after making Voice commands, it could be for one of the following reasons:
- they may be asking the Foxtel Voice Remote to do something it's unable to do (e.g. fast forward during live TV)
- the content they're searching for may not currently be available on Foxtel
- an error may have occurred with the Voice feature
- their box may have lost connection to the internet.
For the Voice feature to work, make sure:
- The customer is on the latest software (software version iQ4: 1.18.1.19, iQ3: 1.18.0.19).
- The customer's Foxtel Voice Remote is paired to their iQ5, iQ4 or iQ3 via Bluetooth. For pairing instructions, see Procedure - pair Bluetooth remotes.
- The customer's iQ5, iQ4 or iQ3 is connected to the internet. For connection instructions, see Procedure - connect an iQ4 or iQ3 to the internet.
If the Voice feature is still not working, use Zendesk for further troubleshooting or transfer the customer to Technical Support (for transfer information, see FoxPages directory - Foxtel departments.
4.2 Tips for using the Voice feature
If the customer advises their Foxtel Voice Remote doesn't understand them or doesn't produce any results, advise them of the following tips for using the Voice feature:
- make sure you're holding the microphone button down the whole time you're making a voice command (and remember, it can only listen for 15 seconds at a time)
- say the same phrase again
- say it in a different way
- speak clearly and slowly
- speak in a conversational manner
- limit any noise in the background
- unpair and re-pair your remote
- check your internet connection.
You can also provide the customer with example Voice commands to use to identify if they're trying to use a Voice command that the Foxtel Voice Remote is not capable of recognising.
