1.1 About the Foxtel app
The Foxtel app is a complimentary companion service included in a customer's Foxtel residential TV subscription. It enables customers to watch Foxtel content within Australia on supported devices with an internet connection and provides the ability to cast to supported Smart TVs. It’s also the app that Foxtel Now customers use to stream their Foxtel Now service.
Standard internet data charges apply for customers using the Foxtel app.
Note: The Foxtel app replaces the Foxtel Go app effective Monday 31 August 2026. Customers who had the Foxtel Go app installed on a compatible device will receive an automatic update to the Foxtel app. Customers using an unsupported device will continue to access Foxtel Go until Wednesday 30 September 2026.
1.2 Features
The Foxtel app will have a refreshed user interface, with enhanced customer interactivity delivering an overall improved app experience.
Below are the features included in the app:
- Watch Foxtel content on the go
- Watch live TV (on channels they are subscribed to)
- Stream On Demand content
- 4K streaming for available content on compatible devices
- View up to 14 days of advanced programming in the TV guide
- Set remote recordings directly to their set top box from the TV guide (excludes Foxtel Now)
- Cast to supported Smart TVs
- Register unlimited devices and watch on 2 at the same time
- Closed Captions
- Parental controls
- HD (High Definition) content over the Internet
- Improved content recommendations via collections and recommended content carousels
Note: The Foxtel app does not support pay-per-view features such as purchasing from the Foxtel Store or Main Events.
1.3 Eligibility
Customers with a Foxtel residential TV subscription and Foxtel Now customers can use the Foxtel app as long as they have an active service, compatible device and an internet connection.

2. Foxtel app channels
Note: Not all content available on a Foxtel residential service is available on the Foxtel app, including some live channels and on-demand content.
The channels available to a customer via the Foxtel app depends on their Foxtel TV or Foxtel Now subscription. See Compare channels on Foxtel TV and Foxtel apps for a breakdown of all available channels and On Demand content on the Foxtel app.

4.1 Accessing the Foxtel app
Foxtel TV customers can access the Foxtel app using their Foxtel ID. Foxtel Now customers can access the Foxtel app using their Foxtel Now username and password.
New Foxtel TV customers will need to create a Foxtel ID before they can access the Foxtel app.

4.2 Cancelled Orders
If the new sale is cancelled, the customer will lose access to the Foxtel app.
4.3 Suspended Customers
Customers on voluntary or non-pay suspension cannot access the Foxtel app. Customers who attempt to log into the Foxtel app while suspended will see an error message.
4.4 Foxtel Now and the Foxtel app
Foxtel Now customers will receive most of the same app features, apart from remote recording, which is not supported on Foxtel Now.
Update on the Foxtel Now box:
- The Foxtel Now box will be unable to support the Foxtel app.
- The device still offers access to select third party apps however, Foxtel Now specific access will be unsupported with the app update.
5. Casting
Foxtel customers can use the Foxtel app to cast their Foxtel TV service. Foxtel customers can stream on 2 devices at the same time, even when casting via Chromecast or AirPlay.
To start casting, customers need to:
- be a Foxtel Now customer or have Multiscreen as part of their Foxtel TV subscription
- have all devices connected to the same WiFi network
- have either the Foxtel Now or Foxtel app installed on a mobile phone or tablet
- have a compatible TV/media player with Chromecast built in, Apple AirPlay or a Google Chromecast connected to their TV.
When customers can cast, the casting or Apple TV logo will appear on the Foxtel app or Foxtel Now app. Customers can tap the logo to display a list of eligible devices to cast to. The video stream will be sent to the selected casting device and the Foxtel app or Foxtel Now app will behave as a remote.
6. PIN and Parental Controls
Foxtel app users can set up a PIN (Personal Identification Number) to access parental controls. These allow customers to restrict content by classification, which applies to live channels and On Demand content.
6.1 PIN
The first-time customers access the parental control menu in Foxtel app they'll be prompted to enter and confirm a new PIN. If a customer forgets their PIN, they can reset it using the Foxtel app.
To reset a PIN in Foxtel app, advise the customer to:
- Open the Foxtel app.
- Click the menu icon in the top-left corner of the app and then click settings.
Note: If the customer is using a tablet, the settings icon will be in the top-right corner of the app.
- Click Parental Controls.
- In the ENTER YOUR PIN pop-up window, click Forgot your PIN?
- You’ll receive an email with a new PIN, which you can normally or change to preferred PIN.
To change a PIN in Foxtel app, advise customer to:
- Open the Foxtel app
- Click the menu icon in top-left corner of the app and then click settings.
Note: If the customer is using a tablet, the settings icon will be in the top-right corner of the app.
- Click Parental Controls
- In the ENTER YOUR PIN pop-up window, enter your PIN
- Click Change PIN
- Enter your preferred PIN
- Re-enter your preferred PIN
6.2 Parental controls
Foxtel app users can use the parental controls to block or restrict content by classification. Any restricted live channels or On Demand programs will require entry of the customer's PIN before they can be viewed. When a classification is restricted, all higher classifications are automatically restricted as well.
These settings must be changed for each Foxtel app device and are not affected by changes made on a customer's STBs (Set Top Boxes) (for Foxtel TV customers) or Foxtel Now apps (for Foxtel Now customers).
To change parental controls in Foxtel app, advise the customer to:
- Open the Foxtel app.
- Click the menu icon in the top left corner of the app and then click settings (if you're on a tablet, the settings icon will be in the top right corner of the app).
- Click Parental Controls.
- In the ENTER YOUR PIN pop-up window, enter your PIN.
- Click the classification you want to restrict (any higher classifications are automatically restricted).
- Click the 'X' to save changes.
7. Watching the Foxtel app through a VPN
The Foxtel app cannot be viewed through a VPN (Virtual Private Network), so customers will need to disable any VPN being used on their device to view the Foxtel app. This is due to rights and licensing agreements we have in place. Foxtel app content can only be accessed within Australia, and if a customer is using a VPN, we can't verify they are in Australia.

Select customers will be notified via email and SMS that their device will no longer support the updated Foxtel app after Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

What happened to the Foxtel Go app?
The Foxtel Go app has been replaced by the Foxtel app from Monday 31 August 2026. Customers who had the Foxtel Go app installed will receive an automatic update to the Foxtel app on eligible devices. All existing Foxtel Go features are retained and enhanced in the new Foxtel app.
When will customers see the new Foxtel app?
Customers will see the new Foxtel app from Monday 31 August 2026. The app will change via an automatic update to the existing Foxtel Go app on eligible devices and supported connections. Customers must have their app updates set to auto in their device settings, otherwise will receive prompt to update the app manually.
Will customers need to do anything to get the new Foxtel app?
No. For most customers, the Foxtel app will update automatically on eligible devices and operating systems. However, customers may need to log back in after the update depending on their scenario.
Is 4K content available on the Foxtel app?
Yes, 4K streaming is available in the Foxtel app for eligible content, dependent on the customer’s subscription and compatible device. 4K will be the default content quality where the content supports it. Not all content on the Foxtel app will be available in 4K. Customers will require a compatible device and suitable internet connection to view content in 4K.
Is the TV guide available in the Foxtel app?
Yes, the TV guide is available in the Foxtel app and allows customers to view up to 14 days of advanced programming. Foxtel residential TV customers can also set remote recordings directly to their set top box from the TV guide.
Can customers still access the Foxtel app if their app shows an 'Upgrade to watch' prompt?
This prompt will appear when customers attempt to access content within a package, they do not currently subscribe to. Customers will need to upgrade their subscription to access this content.
What about customers still using Foxtel Play?
Customers using the Foxtel Play app will be automatically updated to the Foxtel app on eligible devices and operating systems. As Foxtel Play has an older app build with legacy features, the change these customers experience will be greater than most existing Foxtel residential and Foxtel Now customers. Additional support may be required for these customers during the transition.
What is happening to the Foxtel Now Box?
The Foxtel Now Box will not be supported by the Foxtel app. All Foxtel Now boxes are out of their warranty period. The boxes will continue to operate for any third-party apps but will not receive any future software upgrades.
Will Foxtel Now customers be impacted?
Yes, Foxtel Now customers use the same app to access their streaming services and will receive most of the same enhancements (excluding remote record) from Monday 31 August 2026. The same sign-up, sign-in and forgot password process flows will remain for Foxtel Now customers.
What if a customer's app crashes or freezes after the update?
Advise the customer to reload or refresh the app. Once refreshed, the customer will be presented with the updated Foxtel app and will either:
- Not need to log in again or
- Need to log in again with their Foxtel ID or Foxtel Now credentials.
