1. What’s happening
Foxtel will be shutting down select legacy equipment across multiple campaigns from 1 July 2025.
To ensure our customers are set up to have the best Foxtel experience, the marketing campaigns will be offering free upgrade from their legacy equipment to an internet-enabled iQ4 box.
Note: The following equipment has already been decommissioned:
- MyStar
- MyStar 2
- Standard Iderto
- Standard NDS
- iQ.5
2. Marketing Campaigns
Our marketing team will be running several campaigns to move customers off their legacy equipment onto an internet-enabled box.
Eligible customers will receive communication with instructions on how to upgrade their box to iQ4.

Update (2 March 2026) - Campaign activity paused
Effective immediately, upgrade campaign activity for customers with an iQ2 has been paused.
On Tuesday 3 March, emails will be sent to customers with an iQ2, who were previously advised their box would shut down on 30 April. The email will advise that their iQ2 box will remain active until further notice and service will continue as normal. See an example of the email below.

3. Benefits of upgrading to an iQ4 via internet
The iQ4 brings the ultimate Foxtel experience. Customers will have access to more content, 4K Ultra HD viewing, and can easily find what they want to watch faster.

- Enhanced features to personalise their home page: their own watchlist, continue watching their favourites, and personalised recommendations from the entire Foxtel on demand library.
- Watch Foxtel anywhere, anytime with Foxtel GO app. It’s included in their subscription.
4. Setting up an iQ4 via internet
To set up iQ4 via internet, customers will have to plug into their TV and follow the on-screen prompts. They will need:
- reliable home broadband
- ability to connect an iQ4 to internet either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet
The following are suggested minimum speeds for viewing quality:
- 3Mbps for SD content
- 7Mbps for HD content
- 25Mbps for Ultra HD content
