1.1 About the Foxtel Now Box
The Foxtel Now Box is a small device that provides access to streaming services and FTA TV. It uses an Android operating system to deliver third party apps to the customer's television. The box includes a FTA tuner, allowing the customer to consolidate their entertainment into a single hub, with a single remote control.
Requirements
To set up a Foxtel Now Box a customer must have:
- a Foxtel Now ID (customers can use the same Foxtel Now ID for multiple Foxtel Now boxes)
- an active internet connection
- a TV with an HDMI socket.
Features
Foxtel Now Box features:
- free-to-air tuner (requires internet connection)
- Google Play store (customer will need to log in with a Google account)
- pre-installed apps
- built in Google Chromecast
- HD streaming.

Note: The Foxtel Now Box cannot be bundled with Foxtel broadband and is not available as a multiroom device.

Free-to-air tuner
The Foxtel Now Box comes with a built-in tuner which means the customer can plug their FTA (Free To Air) cable in and watch FTA though their Foxtel Now Box. Note: This requires an internet connection.
Featured apps
The following apps come pre-installed and are officially supported on the Foxtel Now Box:
- Netflix
- SBS On Demand
- ABC iview
- 7plus
- YouTube
- Stan
- 10
- MySatGo (Arabic TV channels).
The Google Play store has a wide selection of free and subscription apps that can be downloaded. Note: Some applications may not be available on the Foxtel Now box for several reasons. Typically, an app is not optimised to run on a specific device or the app provider has specifically chosen to not make the app available on that device.
Google Chromecast built-in
The Foxtel Now Box features Chromecast. This allows customers with a compatible Android or iOS device the ability to broadcast their selected steaming service from their device to their TV. Chromecast is capable of broadcasting at up to 4K resolution on compatible TVs and with compatible apps.
HD streaming
The Foxtel Now Box is capable of streaming HD programming (if the program is in HD). The television must also be HD capable.

2.1 Set up FAQs How do I get a Foxtel Now login?
You can sign up for a free 10-day trial of Foxtel Now, which will give you a Foxtel Now login. If you choose to end your subscription at the end of your trial, you can keep using your Foxtel Now login with your Foxtel Now Box without an activate Foxtel Now subscription.
Do I need a Google ID to purchase a Foxtel Now Box?
A Google ID allows you to access the Google Play store and open the featured apps. To download apps or purchase movies and TV shows from Google on your box, you will need a Google ID. However, to get the best experience, we recommend using a Google ID with your Foxtel Now Box.
What's the difference between a Foxtel Now login and a subscription?
Your Foxtel Now login is your unique identity for Foxtel Now, whereas a subscription is a monthly recurring charge for access to Foxtel Now content. You'll need a Foxtel Now login to set up and use your Foxtel Now Box, but you only need a subscription to access Foxtel Now's amazing content.

Yes, you can use your Foxtel Now Box anywhere within Australia as long as you have an internet connection. Just plug it in, and you're ready to keep enjoying your Foxtel Now Box.
What type of remote does it come with?
The Foxtel Now Box remote supports both infrared and Bluetooth, and the Foxtel Now Box will prompt you to set up Bluetooth when you set up the box.
Can the Foxtel Now Box record?
No, the Foxtel Now Box is a streaming device and doesn't offer recording options. For the best experience, we recommend a Foxtel Now subscription so you can access Foxtel's huge library of On Demand content.
What kind of internet does the Foxtel Now Box require?
The Foxtel Now Box can be connected over WiFi (including mobile hotspots) or ethernet. To stream SD (Standard Definition) content, we recommend a minimum speed of 3 Mbps (Mega bits per second) and to stream HD (High Definition) content we recommend a minimum speed of 7 Mbps. Remember that data charges from your ISP (Internet Service Provider) will apply when using the Foxtel Now Box. Foxtel content uses approximately 1.4GB per hour for SD or 3.2GB per hour for HD content, data usage will vary between each service provider.
What resolution does the Foxtel Now Box stream in? Does it support 4K UHD?
The Foxtel Now Box supports up to 4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) resolutions when streaming. Foxtel does not currently offer any 4K UHD content via streaming, however content from other providers may be viewed in 4K UHD where available and when using compatible equipment.
Does the Foxtel Now Box support Chromecast?
Yes. The Foxtel Now Box has a 4K Chromecast built in, so you can cast straight from your mobile. Some casting restrictions may apply between different providers.
Can I have a Foxtel Now Box instead of a multiroom?
No. The Foxtel Now Box is not available as a multiroom.
Can I watch free-to-air channels on the Foxtel Now Box?
Yes. The Foxtel Now Box has a FTA (Free To Air) TV tuner which you can connect to your home antenna to watch FTA that's available in your area. You will need an internet connection to the Box to use this service. You can also download the ABC iView, 10 and Plus7 apps from the Google Play app store.
Why aren't all Google Play Android TV apps available on the Foxtel Now Box?
An application may not be available for a number of reasons. Typically it's because an app is not optimised to run on a specific device or the app provider may have chosen to not allow the app on a specific device.
The Foxtel Now Box has a built in Google Chromecast which may allow you to cast apps that are not available on the Foxtel Now Box to your TV.
Sometimes, Foxtel may choose to prevent installation of specifics apps if they are deemed to be in conflict with our position on piracy, or if they impact the safety and privacy of Foxtel Now Box users.
