1. Confirm WPS support
Note: A customer may be able to connect by WPS if their modem has a WPS button. WPS allows customers to connect to their WiFi network without entering their login details.
2. Set up a WiFi Extender using WPS
Lead the customer through the following instructions:
Important: The network name will be the same as the modem network name with '_2GEXT' or '_5GEXT' on the end. The network password is the same.

Note: Advise the customer this is the network that has been extended and they should use a different name to their existing WiFi network to avoid confusion.

1. Confirm WPS support
- Ask the customer if their modem supports WPS (WiFi Protected Setup).

2. Set up a WiFi Extender using WPS
Lead the customer through the following instructions:
- On the WiFi Extender, make sure the Access Point/Extender switch is set to Extender.
- Connect your WiFi Extender to a power point in the same room as your modem.
- Wait for the power indicator light to turn solid green (this may take up to 2 minutes). If the power indicator light does not turn on, press the Power On/Off button on the side of the extender.
- Once the power indicator light is solid green, press the WPS button on the side of WiFi Extender. The WPS indicator light will now blink.
- Within 2 minutes, press the WPS button on your modem.

- Unplug the WiFi extender and move it to a power point roughly halfway between your modem and your device and then plug it into that power point.

- On your WiFi-enabled device (e.g. Mobile phone, laptop), open the WiFi settings and connect to the WiFi Extender's network.
- Test your device in an area that had poor WiFi signal.

3. Connect to the WiFi Extender
Lead the customer through the following instructions:
- Advise the customer before starting that they will need a device (e.g. computer, laptop, mobile phone, tablet) that supports WiFi or ethernet to set up their WiFi Extender.
- On the WiFi Extender, make sure the Access Point/Extender switch is set to Extender.
- Connect the WiFi Extender to a power point.
- Wait for the power indicator light to turn solid green (this may take up to 2 minutes). If the power indicator light does not turn on, press the Power On/Off button on the side of the extender.
- Once the power indicator light is solid green, connect the WiFi Extender to your device by:
- using an ethernet cable
- connecting via WiFi to the NETGEAR_EXT WiFi network.
4. Set up a WiFi Extender using the Netgear installation assistant
- Launch a web browser on your device.
- Go to the website www.mywifiext.net. The site will open on the New Extender Setup page.
- Click the NEW EXTENDER SETUP button.
- Create an account by completing all fields and clicking the NEXT button.
- Click the CONTINUE button.
- A list of available WiFi networks will be displayed. Select the WiFi network you want to extend.
- In the Password (Network Key) field, type the existing WiFi network password and then click the NEXT button.
- Create a new extended network by choosing a network name and password.
- Click the NEXT button and wait for the page to display a list of new WiFi Extender networks (this may take up to 1 minute).
- Connect your device to the WiFi Extender network that you just created.
- Click the CONTINUE button, and then click the CONTINUE button on the next page.
- A message will display confirming that the extender is set up. Click the NEXT button.
- The registration page will now display. Either complete the fields and click the FINISH button or click the Skip Registration link, either of which will complete the set up.
- Unplug the extender and move it to a power point roughly halfway between your modem and the area with poor WiFi signal.
- Test your device in an area that had poor WiFi signal.
